Supported Independent Living (SIL) Client Visit to Dreamworld

Client: Jane, a 25-year-old NDIS participant Support Needs: Intellectual disability, requires Supported Independent Living (SIL) Favourite Activity: Watching animal shows, especially tigers Previous Experience: Has never visited a theme park

Objective: To provide Jane with a fulfilling and enjoyable experience at Dreamworld, ensuring her safety and comfort throughout the visit.

Preparation for SIL Outing

  1. Assessment and Planning:
    • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of Jane’s needs, preferences, and potential challenges.
    • Develop a detailed support plan, including schedules, emergency contacts, and contingency plans.
  2. Coordination with Dreamworld:
    • Contact Dreamworld to discuss accessibility options, quiet spaces, and any special accommodations.
    • Arrange priority access to reduce wait times and ensure Jane can fully enjoy her visit.
  3. Staff Training:
    • Train support staff on Jane’s specific needs, potential triggers, and communication preferences.
    • Ensure staff are familiar with the layout of Dreamworld and know where to find quiet zones and first aid stations.

Day of Visit
